The TED conferences were born in 1984, thanks to architect and designer Richard Saul Wurman, who noted a convergence among the fields of technology, entertainment and design, That first, invitation-only session featured demos of the compact disc, the e-book and 3D graphics, and mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot demonstrated how to map coastlines using his developing theory of fractal geometry, That first event lost money, but when Wurman and his digital ballet shoe print pointe shoe ballet decor home decor printable wall art prints dance print wall art ballet studio insta partner Harry Marks tried again in 1990, the money worked out, and TED became an annual event in Monterey, inviting people from all kinds of disciplines who wanted to share their ideas..
“That’s exactly what makes this Cinderella such a fun ballet to present,” Ryken says. “Everyone knows the story; you don’t have to go to ballet classes to understand it. It has a clear storyline, it’s funny and it engages the whole crowd, no matter who you are.”. The humor Ryken refers to comes courtesy of Cinderella’s interactions with her two wicked stepsisters and equally unfriendly stepparents. “In some professional companies they’ll use two men to play the stepsisters, which is very Shakespearean,” Ryken laughs. “I wanted to give our girls the chance to play the characters, and use humor in how they interact with each other. There’s almost a competition among them as to who’s funnier; they’re really pushing themselves to see which version of the production is most exciting.”.
